Tai Chi is an internal martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. It is mostly known for its slow movement patterns that will increase your flexibility, strength and balance. The focus of taichi is to develop and promote personal energy for self healing and well being.

Along with the tai-chi classes and form of breathing exercises called qi gong is also practiced in the beginning of each class. This will get the blood and oxygen flowing through your body. Often times, the practice of QiGong by itself may be enough for the beginning level student.

As you continue to practice, you will feel your body start to flow and your balance and strength increase. Tai-chi can be considered as a form of yoga as you start to increase flexibility, develop strength in your muscles, ligaments and tendons which will help support the joints.

Studies have also shown taichi as a preventative measure to keep the body limber and will less likely to develop pain from lumbago, arthritis, sciatica and fibromyalgia.  For mental health, Tai-Chi will help keep the mind alert, help manage stress and may help neurologically restore simple body mechanics.
